26 May 20095/26/09 to Present
Sailing down Grenada’s western shore, we welcomed the familiar sights of the small fishing villages, towns & lush, mountainous terrain.
We had decided to stop at Molinere Point to dive the Underwater Sculpture Garden. Although we have snorkeled at the Garden four times previously, we have never dove the site. As [...]

We’re always reluctant to leave the Cays, but we’re nearing the month’s end & need to continue south. Sailing over to Union Island, we spent a night in Chatham Bay prior to sailing around to Clifton Harbour to clear out through Customs & Immigration.

After departing Admiralty Bay, we made a brief stop at Petit Nevis prior to heading south to the Cays. As we passed offshore of Canouan, we heard our fishing line go ‘ZING’ & as luck would have it, we caught an 8 lb. Blackfin Tuna.
Seared Tuna anyone?
Upon reaching the Cays, [...]

Makai laying at anchor in Admiralty Bay, Bequia

Rain, Rain, Go Away
It rained & sometimes poured throughout our entire stay in Rodney Bay. In between squalls, we dashed into the marina area to visit various shops, the chandlery and markets. Although the condition allowed time for extra reading, surfing the net, baking and watching movies, by day 4 [...]

I guess you could say we’re fast tracking our way south at this point. We departed Antigua for Guadeloupe on 4/29, anchoring for the night off Pte. Malendure (Pigeon Island – Cousteau National Park.) The next morning, we set off for Portsmouth, Dominica staying just long enough for Fred & Bob [...]

Together with Lynne, Bob & Mollie (S/V Leap of Faith) we spent four days exploring the turquoise blue waters, shallow banks & pink sand beaches of Barbuda, an island 30 miles north of Antigua. Unlike the other Leeward Islands, Barbuda is relatively flat & visible only within 5 miles from [...]

With April just around the corner, we finally moseyed across the channel into the British Virgin Islands. We spent our first two nights anchored at Key Cay, Peter Island with Leap of Faith (Bob & Lynne) & Blue (Richard.) Not the ‘usual’ charter boat haunt, this quite little bay offered great snorkeling [...]
“Makai” is a Hawiian word that means ‘to go towards the sea’
