Fred & Kathy's Cruising Adventures
In: Our Journey
3 May 20094/29/09 to 5/3/09
I guess you could say we’re fast tracking our way south at this point. We departed Antigua for Guadeloupe on 4/29, anchoring for the night off Pte. Malendure (Pigeon Island – Cousteau National Park.) The next morning, we set off for Portsmouth, Dominica staying just long enough for Fred & Bob to dive the Cabrits Marine Park. Unfortunately I had a minor ear infection & had to pass on the dive – a major disappointment!
Taking into account a deteriorating weather forecast starting within the next 72 hours, we said our farewells to Bob, Lynne & Mollie, and we set off for Martinique early Sunday morning. After a great sail, we arrived at St. Pierre, Martinique early enough to walk the beach (a hunt for sea glass) & stop at a sidewalk café for a Bierre Lorraine prior to sunset. Although Martinique is a favorite stop, we decided to forge on towards Rodney Bay, St. Lucia where we would sit out the squally weather.
“Makai” is a Hawiian word that means ‘to go towards the sea’
