Union Island to Carriacou

In: Our Journey

20 May 2009

5/20/09 to 5/26/09

We’re always reluctant to leave the Cays, but we’re nearing the month’s end & need to continue south. Sailing over to Union Island, we spent a night in Chatham Bay prior to sailing around to Clifton Harbour to clear out through Customs & Immigration.

After checking into Carriacou, we walked over to Arawak Divers to redeem a voucher (2-person, 2-tank dive) I won as part of a silent auction benefiting the Carriacou Childrens Education Fund held last July. Our first trip Friday morning was an exciting drift dive along the western side of Mabouya Island (just north of Tyrrel Bay.) Our second trip on Monday morning was another (inadvertent) drift dive along the sloping shelfs, ledges & boulders south of Tyrrel Bay. Both were excellent dives, full of diverse terrain, reef fish, corals & sea creatures!
